1.  What is Toastmasters?

Toastmasters is the Premiere Public Speaking Education and Leadership Organization in the World.

2.  What is different between Toastmasters and other public speaking programs?

Toastmasters is a Club consisting of about 10 to 20 members.  There are no “Instructors” rather it is a group of people with varied levels of speaking experience.  They are their to help each other practice, grow and improve their public speaking skill and in many cases get over the fear of public speaking.

3.  I’m afraid of Public Speaking, why will Toastmasters benefit me?

Because Toastmasters is a club, and we are all there to provide a supporting atmosphere, your experience giving speech will be positive.  When you meet your fear head on and are made to feel comfortable, you can go back and experience that same fear, but each and every future time your anxiety is reduced.

4.  I’m a Speaking Pro, why will Toastmasters benefit me?

While there are lots of great speakers out there, if you haven’t gotten feedback on your speaking performance, you may be missing out on some valuable insight on things that could help provide you with some “spit and polish”.  Toastmaster clubs help people constantly maintain their public speaking skills.

5.  What is a typical meeting like?

Typical meetings start with a business portion lasting about 10 to 15 minutes, followed up with the educational portion.  

The educational portion includes prepared speeches, evaluations and impromptu speeches.  Additional members help with timing speeches, listening for grammar and various other meeting requirements.
